The groupgizmo lets you group other Gizmos together. It is used for the Sidebar to render Sidebar groups, and can also be used inside of a Group itself to show sub-groups (this allows only one level deep). Finally, it can also be rendered in a full-screen mode using the Request Controller command rc?command=gizmo, which allows a Dashboard-like rendering of the grouped items.

Each Group Gizmo lets you define a collection of Gizmos (an ID, Gizmo Id and Yes/No to show or hide), a Boolean to flag if you would like it to appear in the Sdie Bar selections ("Allow Use As Sidebar"), and the Gizmo style (overrides the rendering style in the GUI Policy). The advanced property "Lock Down Sidebar" can also be set for the Groups to stop changing of the Group when implemented as a Sidebar, either through moving the Gizmo positions or adding items to the sidebar (add in cog menu or adding current page through Profile menu).

Gizmo Properties Defines high-level characteristics of the Gizmo:

The following properties apply only to pre-LabVantage 8 "Classic Dashboards". They do not apply to the Gizmo-driven LabVantage 8 Dashboard framework.

Tab IdIf using tabs, specify an identifier for the tab. If not using tabs, leave this blank. If you leave this blank and you are using tabs, the Gizmo will not be displayed.
Show GizmoYes/No shows/hides the Gizmo.
WidthWidth of the Gizmo in pixels.
HeightHeight of the Gizmo in pixels.
Enable ResizeYes/No allows/prevents resizing of the Gizmo.
OptionsDetails concerning properties that appear on options dialogs:
Property NameDescription
Property Id Identifier of the property that appears on an options dialog. If this is in a collection or property list, include the full path using the dot character (.) as a separator.
EditableNo disables editing of the property, but it will still be visible.
Gizmos In Group Details concerning properties that appear on options dialogs:
Property NameDescription
Id Identifier of the Group.
Gizmo IdGizmo in the Group.
ShowYes/No shows/hides the Gizmo.
Allow Use As Sidebar Yes allows the Group to be rendered in the Sidebar.
Allow Use As Dashboard Yes allows the Group to be rendered as a Dashboard.
Lock Down Group Yes prevents the Group from being modified in the Sidebar.
Sidebar Gizmo style Determines the rendering style in the Sidebar (Large Icon, Medium Icon, Small Icon, or Text Only). This overrides the Rendering style in the GUI Policy.
Group Options Determines who can modify and access the Group:
Property NameDescription
Owner User who can act as the administrator of the Group. This User has unrestricted access to the Group.
RoleRole defined as the administrative Role of the Group. Users belonging to the Role have unrestricted access to the Group. If not specified, only the "Owner" can act as the administrator of the Group.
PublicYes allows everyone other than those defined by "Owner" and "Role" to view the Dashboard. However, "Public" Users cannot act as Dashboard administrators.
Editing Level If "Public" is "Yes", this defines what a Public user can do with the Group (these are not administrative functions):

Fully Editable Edit the Group.
View OnlyView the Group.
Move OnlyMove Gizmos in the Group.
Show headers On Dashboard Determines if header title boxes are displayed on Dashboards.
