"Waits" accept SDIs into the Input Queue, then wait until the "Wait Conditions" specified for the Input Queue are satisfied before passing the SDIs to the Output Queue. It is based on the NoopStep, so the Step does nothing by itself... it simply waits.
For example, the Task below accepts Samples into the Input Queue, then waits until Sample Status has changed as defined by the "Event Type" below. When building the Workflow in the Workflow Definition Page, you choose the "From Status" and "To Status". The Task waits until this transition occurs before passing the Samples to the Output Queue.

WaitBatchStatus |
"WaitBatchStatus" waits until the Batch Status has changed as defined by the "Event Type" below. In the Workflow Definition, the Setup Variables define when the Batches will move into the Output Queue.

WaitRequestStatus |
"WaitRequestStatus" waits until the Request Status has changed as defined by the "Event Type" below. In the Workflow Definition, the Setup Variables define when the Requests will move into the Output Queue.

WaitSampleApproved |
"WaitSampleApproved" waits until the Sample Status has changed to "Approved" as defined by the "Event Type" below. In the Workflow Definition, there are no Setup Variables. Samples will move into the Output Queue when Sample Status is "Approved".

WaitSampleComplete |
"WaitSampleComplete" waits until the Sample Status has changed to "Complete" as defined by the "Event Type" below. In the Workflow Definition, the Setup Variables can override when the Samples will move into the Output Queue.

WaitSampleManual |
"WaitSampleManual" pauses the Workflow until Samples are selected to continue. In the Workflow Definition, there are no Setup Variables. Samples will move into the Output Queue when execution resumes.

"WaitSampleReceived" waits until the Sample Status has changed to "Received" as defined by the "Event Type" below. In the Workflow Definition, the Setup Variables can override when the Samples will move into the Output Queue.
