The Compare Configurations tool works at the SDC-level. It compares SDCs in two databases and reports differences. In general, use this tool to determine which SDCs have changed, then use the Configuration Transfer Tools to export/import.

Both databases must be the same DBMS.

For example, you can compare two Oracle databases or two MS SQLServer databases. You can not compare an Oracle database to a SQLServer database.

Access through System Admin → System Tools → Compare Configurations.

1.

From the SDC List page, choose the SDCs you want to compare, then click "Perform Comparison". This starts the wizard.

2.

For the Target Database, choose an option to compare the current database with either of these:

Other Database Another active LabVantage database.
JDBC Connection LabVantage database accessed through a JDBC connection.

Provide the connection information corresponding to your choice.

Choose Export Options:

Include audit fields When selected, includes SDC audit columns in the comparison:
createdt moddtauditsequence
createbymodbyauditdeferflag
createtoolmodtooltracelogid
Include detail tables When not selected, compares only primary tables (not detail tables).
Match items starting with Case-sensitive filter to provide a shorter list of SDIs.
3.

Start the comparison by clicking "Next".

During a comparison, clicking "Cancel" aborts comparing the current SDC and begins comparing the next SDC.

4.

When complete, results are displayed. For each SDC, the Change Type (description of the change) is shown, along with the Details (exact changes rendered in a collapsible/expandable list).

From here, you can:

Export Items Export selected items using the Configuration Transfer Tools.
Print Results Prints the displayed information.

Being Ajax-driven, you can export items and print results for one SDC while others are being compared.

Red text on a tab indicates the SDC currently being compared:
