Bulletins are informative messages you can send to other LabVantage Users or to groups of users with the same Role(s) and/or Department(s). You can configure the system to send bulletins automatically, or you can send them personally through this page. A user preference allows you to decide if you would like to receive these messages in your email inbox.

Reading your Bulletins

There are two ways to access your bulletins in LabVantage. Both involve the use of a Gizmo.

As shown to the right, the envelope icon in your tob bar shows the number of unread bulletins you have received.

Click the envelope to read your bulletins.

An alternative display is available through a dashboard gizmo. You will find this on your "My Dashboard".

This lists all your bulletins and provides a button for sending a new message.

Sending a Bulletin

To send a bulletin, begin by clicking the appropriate button.

  1. The "From User:" will auto populate with the currently signed-in account.
  2. Choose a "To User" account. The LabVantage account with this user ID will receive the message.
  3. Choose a "To Role". Any account with this Role plus the account in the 'To User' field will receive the message.
  4. Choose a "To Department". This list will only show Departments that have been identified as "Can Receive Bulletin".
  5. Tick the "Only Users with both Role AND Department if you want to send the message to users who have been granted the seleted role and are a member of the selected department. Otherwis, the message will go to any user granted the seleted role plus any user in the selected department.
  6. Enter a Subject. This is similar to an email subject line.
  7. Tick the Priority box if you want to send with high priority. This will place a red exclamation point to the left of the message in the bulletin page.
  8. Optionally, add a URL. This could be a URL to a LabVantage page.
  9. Add a Message as needed.
  10. Click Send.

Receiving Bulletins as Email

Use of this feature requires that your administrator set up your SMTP host such that it permits the LabVantage application to send mail. Assuming this has been configured, access your profile preferences through the top bar as shown.

Verify that your correct email address is specified.

Scrolling down, select the User Profile tab.

Continuing to the bottom of this page, find the Notification Options and the Notifications Format. Change to: Email.

Save your changes and close.
