During Evaluation, QC Batch data is evaluated according to the QC Rules specified on the QC Method. A "Pass" or "Fail" determination is issued (based on the Evaluation Rule) for each Batch Item and the QC Batch as a whole. The Evaluation can be done in one of the following ways depending on the Evaluation Option defined in the QC Method:

Automatic Evaluation

If the Evaluation Option is either "Continuous" or "Conclusion", LabVantage automatically performs the Evaluation either continuously (as data are entered for each Dataset) or at the conclusion of Data Entry (when data are entered for all Data Sets).

Manual Evaluation

If the Evaluation Option is "Manual" or "User Specified", manually perform the Evaluation after the QC Batch is Complete.

"Automatic Evaluation" occurs when the Evaluation Option on the QC Method is "Continuous" or "Conclusion".

As data are entered (and automatic evaluation occurs) the QC Batch and QC Batch Item Evaluation statuses are automatically updated and display in the Review QC Batch Maintenance page:

1 "Status" of the "QC Batch".
2 "Evaluation Status" of the "QC Batch".
3 "Evaluation Status" of the "Batch Items".
4 "Evaluation Status" of the "QC Batch Sample Types".

After Evaluation the next step is to Review the QC Batch. See Reviewing QC Batches for more information.

Once all Data have been entered and released (see Entering Data for QC Batches and the QC Batch Overview), including the QC Batch Params if defined, the QC Batch moves to the QCBatch Review List page where you can perform the Evaluation manually using the Review QCBatch page.

Navigate to AQC → QC Batch Review, the QCBatch Review List page displays.

Select the QC Batch you want to Evaluate and click "Review". The Review QC Batch page displays.

Clicking the "Evaluate" button Evaluates the QC Batch and updates the same statuses as the Automatic Evaluation described above.

User Specified Evaluation

When the "Evaluation Option" defined in the QC Method is "User Specified" the Evaluation Status field is editable. When you manually evaluate the QC Batch (by clicking "Evaluate") the "Evaluation Status" is determined, you can optionally change the status as needed.

Be aware that the status of the Batch Items and QCBatch Sample Types remain unchanged.

The "Evaluation Status" dropdown remains inactive for all the other Evaluation Options.
