Certifications |
Introduction |
|
|
When Certifications are defined, a User must be "certified" to work with the relevant Parameter List (before entering data). Define Certifications if you are in a regulated industry where it is necessary to document the credentials of staff performing specific tests. LabVantage also documents the certifications of the trained analyst.
Additionally, Instruments that generate Sample data can be certified to indicate their condition.
Define Certifications using one of these operations on the Certifications and Resources tramline (depending on which suits your needs):
Certification | Certifies... |
By Analyst | A single User for multiple Parameter Lists. |
By ParamList | Multiple Users for a single Parameter List. |
By Task | Multiple Users for a single Workflow Task. |
By Form | Multiple Users for a single Form. |
Instrument | Multiple Instruments to generate Sample data. |
By Analyst |
|
|
Select the User, then click "Analyst Training":
|
In the resulting Maintenance page:
Parameter Lists |
|
To... | Do this... |
Certify the User for a Parameter List | Click "Add" and choose a Parameter List. The
Certification Type is "Analyst Training".
To certify for a specific Version and/or Variant, specify it in the "Version" and "Variant" columns. To certify for all Versions or Variants, blank out the appropriate column... it is then replaced by "(null)", indicating that the Certification is for all Versions or Variants. |
Revoke a Certification | Change the Status to "Invalid". |
Certify the User for a Controlled Substance (Witness) |
Click "Add Control". The Certification Type "Control Substance" is added.
You can add only one.
Samples requiring a Witness to the transfer are defined as "Controlled Substances" (for example, adding a Sample with "Controlled Substance" set to "Yes"). A Witness must be a Custodian, and must be someone other than the Custodians relinquishing and accepting custody (the "FromCustodian" and "ToCustodian"). See Chain of Custody for additional information about using a Witness. |
Indicate an Expiration Date | Choose the "Expiration" date. If desired, provide a "Grace Period" and corresponding units. |

During Data entry, you can also override a Certification for a selected Data
Set or Data Item. In Data Entry
pages, use the page's Toolbar or shortcut menu.
In order to override Certifications, override must be permitted (as shown in By Parameter List, Instrument, or By Form above).
