Mobile Support Features |
LabVantage support for mobile devices includes:
• | Mobile Start URLs can be defined for each User in the User Profile of the User Maintenance page.
• | The Web Page Designer provides a number of Resolution Properties. These allow certain properties to have values that are expressed differently based on the resolution of the screen at runtime. This is extended by the GUI Policy, which allows "GUI Modes" and a "Default URL" to be defined.
• | Additional configuration support for mobile devices is provided by:

Field Collection "App" |

Launching Field Collection |
|
The Field Collection "App" is defined by a menugizmo called "MobileFieldMenu". Use this URL to launch the functionality:
rc?command=page&page=Tramline%20Sitemap&gizmodefid=MobileFieldMenu
This launches the Mobile Field Menu:

Menu Item | Use |
Collect Samples | Collect Sample Monitoring Samples generated by the Sample Monitoring module. |
Create Additional Samples | Schedule additional Samples for Sample Points. |
Field Collection Data Entry | Perform Data Entry directly for the Samples currently being collected. |
Collect Samples |
Sample Collection is done through a Monitor Group, which contains multiple related Monitor Samples (such as Samples along a collection route).
The Monitor Group must be assigned to an individual. MonitorGroup assignment is simply choosing a User who will perform the collection. This is typically done using the desktop Web application by specifying the Assigned Collector (see Monitor Groups → Managing Monitor Groups).
The Collect Samples menu item opens the LV_MonitorGroupList page:
![]() |
This shows the results of Monitor Groups that are assigned to be collected by the current User. The Identifier, Label, and count of Samples are shown for each Monitor Group. After selecting a Monitor Group, the User can use the "Cancel" button to indicate that the Monitor Group will be cancelled and not collected, or use the "Collect Samples" button to begin collection. "Collect Samples" opens the LV_MonitorSampleList_Collection page:
![]() |
This executes the Query "By MonitorGroup" to show the uncollected Samples of the selected Monitor Group, which is determined by Samples that do not have a Collection Date. For each Sample, the SampleId, Ddescription, and Location Path (from where the Sample is to be collected) is shown. After selecting a Sample to collect, the User can use the "Mark Collected" button to simply mark the current User and the Current Date/Time as the Collection Date, or use the "Collect Sample" button to open the SampleCollectionAtrtibuteMaint page (shown in landscape mode below).
![]() |
For each Sample, this page shows the Collection Date and a Physical Condition dropdown, along with any other columns that are required to be specified on collection. After entering all mandatory values and Saving, the Sample is collected. The Collected By column is then set to the current User.
After return to the LV_MonitorSampleList_Collection page, the Sample is no longer shown, as that Sample now has a non-null Collection Date.
Create Additional Samples |
In general, Samples are generated by the Scheduler, and associated with a parent Monitor Group. There is the occasional need to request that addtional Samples be generated. This creates the "Additional Samples" menu item to navigate the User to the Sample Point List page, where the "Query By Location" finds all Sample Points under a selected Location.

The User chooses one or more Sample Points to have their Schedule Plans executed, then uses the "Create Samples" button to generate additional Samples. Execution of the Create Samples button is shown below.

Field Collection Data Entry |
After a Sample is collected, it is sent to the laboratory and Received. Nominal LIMS Data Entry can then be performed. However, there is the occasional need to perform Data Entry in the field. The Field Collection Data Entry menu item provides this capability.
To support this feature, the "Collection" Parameter List Type identifies a Parameter List that is used for field Data Entry (see Parameter Lists).
The Field Collection Data Entry menu item opens the MonitorSampleList_DataEntry page, which is restricted to only Samples that have been collected by having a non-null Collection Date column. The User can then add additional Tests, or go directly into Data Entry by searching and selecting Samples, then invoking either the Add Tests or Data Entry buttons.
![]() |
The Add Test button opens a Lookup page to add a Test. Below is an example of adding a Test that uses the Collection Parameter List Type.
![]() |
The Data Entry button opens the Data Entry page. When running n a mobile device, the Data Entry page presents only one Sample at a time. The User is free to navigate from one Sample to the next before clicking Save&Release. The User can also choose a different Sample by clicking the Sample Id, which then offers a choice of Samples.
