Manual Assignment |
Manual Assignment of Analysts and Work Areas can be performed using the "Assign Analyst" and "Assign Work Area" buttons on the relevant SDI List pages referenced below. Follow the links for details.

Automatic Assignment |
Automatic Assignment of Analysts and Work Areas can be performed using the "Auto Assign Rule", "Work Area", and "Auto Assign Analyst" fields on the relevant SDI Maintenance pages referenced below.

| Test Method Maintenance | Tests and their Data Sets (can be overridden at the Parameter List level) |

Instruments in the "Equipment" detail of the Test Method Maintenance page are automatically associated with the Test.
The "Auto Assign Rule" in the Master Data objects in the table above provides the following functionality:

| Work Area | Assigns the instance data object to the specified Work Area. |
| Analyst | Assigns the instance data object to the specified Analyst. |
| NOTE: | The WAP module also performs automatic assignment. Although it is unlikely that both automatic assignment methods would be used, you can set up automatic assignment whether or not you have the WAP module. For more information, see Introduction to Work Assignment and Planning. |
